Pressure Plate

​A pressure plate is a plate in an automotive clutch that applies force to the clutch disc, holding it against the flywheel to transmit power from the engine to the transmission. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate releases its force, disengaging the clutch and interrupting power flow, allowing for gear changes.​
